Positions for which we may have
openings at the animal hospital include:
1) scheduling appointments.
2) answering the telephone.
3) setting up new clients and patients.
4) preparation and maintenance of electronic and written medical records.
5) over the counter sales.
7) computer operation and data entry
8) financial transactions
9) front office and reception area maintenance.
Receptionists will assume the responsibility for
acquiring the medical and legal information necessary for the
medical care of the patients.
RVTs have completed a two year college course at an
accredited veterinary technology school. RVTs are responsible for animal
hospital maintenance, assisting the doctors, laboratory procedures,
radiology, client communication, medical procedures, pharmacy,
operation and maintenance of instruments and equipment, inventory,
daily treatment of hospitalized patients, assisting in the
operating room and maintenance of the W.H.I.M.S. and Hazardous
Assistants are not required to have formal training or a
college degree. Their duties include assisting the doctor and/or
veterinary technician. Other duties include daily care of hospitalized patients
(including walking and feeding), assisting in the exam rooms, and
cleaning and maintenance of the vet hospital.
Students usually help out as volunteers at the vet hospital. We have high school students in grade 11 or 12 work at the clinic. University students who are interested in a career relating to veterinary medicine help out at the hospital. We also work with veterinary technician students. They are usually interested in fulfilling requirements for their studies. Students work with the veterinary assistants and veterinary technicians. Duties are similar to veterinary assistants role. They include care of hospitalized patients(including walking and feeding), assisting in the exam rooms, and
cleaning and maintenance of the animal hospital.
